Obituary of Sophie Bender

Sophie Bellin Bender 88, died peacefully on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home in Albany, N.Y. She was born on February 4, 1922 in Albany to Philip and Bessie Zuk Bellin. Sophie is survived by her beloved husband, Morris; two children, Jeffrey (Anna) Bender and Susan Latham (Charlene DeVoe); four grandchildren, Jon Bender, Marcia (Brian) High, Vanessa Scott, Sara Lombardi; and two great-grandchildren, Jayden Lombardi and Devin Weber. She is also survived by her sisters, Jean Schreck and Rosalind Winston as well as her brother-in-law, Jerome Richman and many nieces and nephews. Sophie was a member of UOTS Abigail #3. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life, which will be held at Ohav Sholom Apts. Community Room, 1:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 19, 2010. Memorial contributions may be made to Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home or UOTS Abigail #3.
