I worked with Sophie at St. Peter's Hospital in the early 70's. We had quite a lively lunch group (about 8 of us) and loved "Mama Soph" as we called her. She would always talk about Morris, Susan (whom I graduated H.S. with), Jeffrey and her weekly Mahjong night with her sisters. Through the years I lost touch with Sophie, but always thought about her and all the laughs we had together. My deepest sympathy to the family on losing this warm, wonderful woman.

My Aunt Sophie was always the "cheek pincher"... she loved to give my cheeks a good squeeze while saying," Lynnishkah!!" She didn't do this to my children, though, because she didn't want to scare them. She never scared me....I knew it was a gesture out of love. I'll always remember her for her wonderful laugh and her well known "kasha and varnishkas". She was a strong, stubborn woman who fought a good fight. Rest in peace, Aunt Sophie....you will always fill my heart with your wonderful poetic words and love.

Warmest wishes to the Bender family on the passing of Sophie. As a cousin of my mother, Rose Ziffer, Sophie was part of the extended family we saw on happy occasions. Our heartfelt condolences are extended to her family at this sad time. May you be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
