I first came across the name Les Rubenfeld when I took "Complex Variables" and used his book. Many years later I was to work for RPI's Project Links and was next door to Les. I had him autograph that textbook- I don't think that request had been made very often of him. Four years we were next door to each other, but I think I last saw him at the Niskayuna Starbucks and we promised to meet there some time when more able to spend some time. Of course, that never happened, but I have not since gone in there and not looked around for him, and I know I will continue to do just that. I'm sad that it will never come to pass that he will be there with the time to spend just chatting. Goodbye, Les.

I had the pleasure of working with Les at RPI for ten years; he was a pssionate educator...committed to his students. He also always had his eyes on the future generation; through his leadership of CIPCE (Center for Initiatives in Pre-College Education), he was tireless in his efforts to forge strong collaborative partnerships with community organizations and funders. The Capital District has lost an advocate. His sense of humor, insight and intelligence will be missed.

To Alice and family, I cannot express how saddened I am to learn of Lester's passing. I can only say that it was much too pre-mature and that Les was such an amazingly warm, caring and funny person. All who knew him were blessed by his personality and upbeat persona. He was very much loved and will always be missed. Toby and Fred Wander

I am deeply saddened by the death of Les Rubenfeld. I knew Les through the Troy Boys & Girls Club and saw firsthand how passionate he was about using education and technology to reach out to and improve the lives of disadvantaged youth. Les saw that technology had become critical to obtaining a solid education and a bright economic future. He championed the cause of ensuring that children of all backgrounds have access to technology and to the opportunities it provides. His death is a significant loss to that cause and to the children who would benefit from it. I offer my heartfelt condolences to all who knew and admired Les.

Alice, Ari & Josh, My deepest condolences to all of you. I'm extremely shocked and saddened to learn of Lester's passing. I have many fond memories of spending Passover seders with you all and of seeing Lester at Shaker Ridge. I hope the many fond memories you have together will be a source of strength during this very difficult time. May Lester's memory be a blessing. Fondly, David Harrison
