He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Gertrude Paul Solomon and his sons, Harold (Spike) Solomon and his wife Valerie, of Albany, NY and Barry Solomon and his wife, Patricia, of Little Rock, AR. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Jill Solomon, Julie Solomon (Cole Libby), Andrew Solomon (Marianne Solomon), Kimberly Solomon-Gavach (James Gavach) and Dara Martin (Al Martin). He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
He was a graduate of Albany High School, the Albany College of Pharmacy and the Columbia University School of Pharmacy and operated Morey's Pharmacy from 1934 - 1976 at 17 Watervliet Avenue in Albany. He was a fixture of the Watervliet Avenue neighborhood and dispensed prescriptions, medical advice and performed an occasional minor medical procedure at his drug store for customers.
He and his wife Gertrude were recently honored at their 75th wedding anniversary with letters from former President Clinton, Senators Schumer and Gillibrand, Congressman Paul Tonko, Governor Patterson and Senator Neil Breslin. Congressman Tonko introduced a resolution on the floor of Congress that was televised nationally on CSPAN honoring the couple for their longevity.
Moe was lifetime resident of the City of Albany and loved the City of his birth and as a first generation American, always appreciated the benefits of living in this country.
During World War II and tough economic times, his credit policy was "pay me when you can". He set the example for his sons of hard work and family which they have carried on and which their children will carry on. He was extremely generous and genuinely interested in the lives of his family and friends.
He was a 50 year member of Temple Israel, Shaker Ridge Country Club and in retirement enjoyed a daily bagel with friends at the Westgate Plaza Price Chopper.
The family would like to thank Nadine Washington and her staff of the Blue Unit of the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home and the staff of the Community Hospice.
