I want to take a moment and give my condolences to Claire's family. She was a person I admired her very much. I saw her every week for the last 25 years. We shared many pleasurable moments. She will be missed, that's for sure. May she rest in peace.

With thoughts and prayers,
Phyllis Murray
Gloria Pacella

Claire Ruslander was one of my biggest wrestling fans. Even after David had graduated and moved on to Cornell, Claire continued to come to BC wrestling matches and support our team. In my senior year she sent me the nicest cards when I won wrestling tournements. I still have the cards to this day, 25 years later. In addition, to being a great wresting fan Claire was a very loving and wonderful person. I am sure she will be dearly missed. To David and all the Ruslanders, I am so sorry for your loss. She has always been in my memory and in my heart and will continue to be there.

Dear Ruslander Family,

I celebrate with you the wonderful life of Claire Ruslander. I could not write enough thank you notes to cover the meals, conversations, love, and friendship that Claire has given to Kim and I over the years. This woman has been one of my two role models for how the perfect mother should behave.

This woman would do anything for her children. Even joining her oldest son's obnoxious friends to celebrate during Michael and Barb's wedding reception. This was an amazing woman!

Who could've expected that a neighbor, moving in next door in '65, would become a lifelong friend; a shining star in our sky? We Lierheimers were all in love with Claire.

A favorite memory has to be the many Halloweens, with Bob at home to pass out candy and Claire in our living room, dressed up in elaborate costumes with our mom & dad: Gypsy dancers, trees (with dad, the washer-woman, hanging laundry); then there was the mysterious black and white striped outfits that she & mom wore one Halloween: never figured that one out.

While I am so saddened by her passing, I join the Ruslanders in celebrating this wonderful, wonderful woman and her joyful life.

"Aunt Claire" is a life-long memory for me. She is one of the few constants I have relied on-like falling leaves, cold NY mornings, and Kenaware Ave. She taught me to knit, knocked on my Mom's door when I couldn't reach her by phone, and remembered every birthday, anniversary, and remarkable event of my life.

One of my favorite memories is the morning (night) that the horn on one of your cars blasted, spontaneously, due to the extreme cold. The neighbors met in your driveway and brainstormed how to shut it off. Once it was finally off (brute force, as I recall), Mrs. R, in her usual upbeat manner, invited us all in for breakfast. (Never mind that it was 3am.)

I will miss her. She was one of a kind.

Dear Betsy and family,

I'm thinking of all of you at your time of great loss. I have many fond memories of your family and of Claire. I especially remember how kind Claire was when I broke the foyer light with a tennis racket trying to re-enact a scene from Conan the Barbarian. She was a kind and gracious woman. I especially remember how much she adored her family. My love and thoughts to your entire family. Fondly, your friend always, David Hadley

The Ruslander family
I was shocked to hear of Claire's passing and saddened by it. I always enjoyed seeing her at all of Lindsay's tennis matches and appreciated her support. I remember our chats at Capital Rep and programs at Russell Sage. I will miss her and she will be in my thoughts and prayers for a long time.

I extend my deeply felt sympathy to the whole family. It was a shock to see the obituary, as I did not even know that Claire was ill. Although I did not know Claire well, I shall miss her friendly greetings when I used to see her, especially for the last thirty years or so at the Town Pool.

Be strong,

Eric Leighton
