To the Cohen family,

Susan became a friend the moment I meet her. Through all of Susan and Don's visits to Austin as well as my visit to see then in New York, I always felt a certain love from Susan. She always knew how to make everyone around her happy. She was giving in everyway possible. I was always so excited when she came to visit Brenda and Jeff, I would spend the whole weekend just to see her and Don.
Susan and Don traveled to Austin just for my wedding and that meant the world to Aaron and I.

She was so good with her grandchildren. She would play games and read to them. The girls truly enjoyed listening to her animated story telling. All the girls enjoyed her company so much. Eden and Susan were very close. Susan wrote letters to Eden and when that letter came in the mail Eden was so excited to open it.

I have truly been blessed to have known such a strong, glowing, confident, spirited person in my lifetime. Susan will be remembered and thought of on a daily basis in my life. My heart goes out to Bonnie, Amy, Jeff and Don. Please know that everyone is here for you and time will heal your pain.

Dear Brenda, Jeff, Amy, Bonnie, Don and families,

Mark, Elliot, Stuart and I visited Brenda, Jeff, Eden, Regan, Haylen and Taryn recently and Susan was there part of the time. I remember her playing games like UNO with the kids. I asked Brenda if Susan was in pain. Brenda said she was in pain most of the time. I couldn't tell. Susan always had a smile on her face. Her words were always positive and loving. I told Brenda how lucky she is to have had Susan as her mother-in-law. Susan was loving, supportive and helpful to Brenda. She respected Brenda and seemed to be very appreciative of all that Brenda did for Jeff and her nieces. May your memories of Susan help you thru this very difficult time.

With love and sympathy,

Sheila Cohen

My deepest sympathy to your family. Mrs. Cohen was one of my math teacher at Guilderland HS. She made math so interesting to learn and her positive presence was so welcoming. It's been almost 30 years since I graduated but I remember very clearly she always took the time if you needed to talk or just had a question. I always looked forward to her class. She had the biggest smile and was always happy. Again my condolence for your loss.

Susan was such a bright light within our school community, family friendships with Bonnie, and Amy, and "family to those crazy runners." I will hold her smile deeply.
I never had her as a math teacher due to my avoidance of the subject but had a love of the arts connection with her as an adult. I always appreciated that Don and Susan came to several of my art openings through out the years. I felt like they followed my art career & were my stand-in parents at the openings that my own parents couldn't attend.
My deepest prayers of faith and love for Don, Bonnie,Amy, and Jeff and all their children.

Susan Cohen was my teacher for 2 years at GCHS. I sought her out the second year because she was the only teacher who I actually looked forward to learning math from. I also had her for homeroom and she was a welcome start to my day each morning. I will always remember her beautiful smile and positive attitude. She was warm and friendly and always fair. She was patient with students, like me, who asked alot of questions and didn't always get it the first go around. She was an excellent role model and I know that she positively affected an entire generation in Guilderland. How many of us can say something that great about our contribution? I will miss her and remember her fondly. I know her family must be proud of her and the life that she lived.

To the Cohen Family,
My sincere condolences to a terrific teacher, mother, and role model. I had the greatest pleasure of having her as my 9th grade math teacher and she was by far my favorite math teacher ever.. she inspired me to enjoy and love math as she did. Even greater was the way she persevered and overcame a tragic and life altering accident. I still remember stopping by her classroom and seeing her big smile and hearing her encouraging words…as running was my “thing” back in those days as well. I also had the pleasure of knowing her wonderful daughters, Bonnie and Amy where the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. So sorry for your loss, I am sure she will be missed.
Rose (O’Connor) Siggia

When I hear people talk of teachers who change one's life I always think of Mrs. Cohen. I would not have passed Trig (on my second try) and gone on to Hobart College but for Mrs. Cohen's incredible combination of patience and enthuiasm. Her career, her life, her family were models for all her students. Thank you Mrs. Cohen-- and thank you Lord-- for sharing these gifts with us.
