Obituary of Dorothy Lazoroff

DOROTHY "DOT" LAZOROFF Dorothy "Dot" Lazoroff died on Saturday May 16th in her home after a brief illness. Born in Troy, NY, she was a life-long resident of the capital district .Dorothy was known for her fierce loyalty to her family, her generosity and for being a loving and dedicated aunt. She enjoyed good food, especially a steak at Angelo's 677 Prime, served medium-rare at table 44. Dorothy was partial to fashion - mixing high-end garments with bargains from Marshall's - in outfits that were always chic. She was famous for her large, colorful hats. Lazoroff had a long-standing interest in genealogy and enjoyed tracking down and corresponding with distant cousins. She also loved to sing, dance and play the piano. Lazoroff spent the majority of her career working for the state of New York and lived in Albany and Menands. Her parents had emigrated from Russia and she grew up speaking both Yiddish and English. Her mother owned a candy shop by the old ferry terminal in Troy, selling sweets to travelers on the overnight New York City ferry. Her father helped raise money to build the Beth Tephilah Synagogue in Troy. The last survivor among her five siblings, Lazoroff leaves behind her nieces, Jan Dobris and Janet Liedeker, a nephew, Joel Dobris, a great-nephew, Eliot Dobris and many members of her extended family. She was loved and will be deeply missed. Services were held on Monday May 18, 2009 at the Beth Emeth Cemetery in Loudonville, New York
