Judith Scheinzeit Sidman, age 91 of the Glenn Eddy in Niskayuna, NY died on Friday morning May 15, 2009 at the Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Judy was born in Brooklyn, NY and had been a Capital District resident most of her life. She was a member of Congregation Agudat Achim and the Sisterhood at Congregation Gates of Heaven in Schenectady as well as a member of Hadassah. Judy was an accomplished violinist and attended the Julliard School of Music. She played with the Schenectady Symphony Orchestra for 30 years, and also played with the Albany Symphony Orchestra. In addition, she performed in a quartet. Judy taught violin for the Schenectady School District for many years.
Judy was married to Ralph Sidman until his passing in 1984. Judy took pride in his profession as a property manager for the State University System. She is survived by 2 sons, David Sidman and his wife Carol of New Jersey and Jacob Sidman and his wife Kris of California. Judy also leaves a brother, Jules Scheinzeit of Schenectady and a sister, Jill Paul of Vermont as well as 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Jeanette Silverman.
Judy's greatest treasure was her family which was the most important part of her life. She remembered all the birthdays and special occasions. Judy indeed was a role model for us all.
Services at Congregation Agudat Achim 2117 Union Street in Schenectady, NY on Sunday May 17, 2009 at 1:00pm. Interment will follow in the Agudat Achim Cemetery on Schermerhorn Street in Rotterdam, NY.
