Obituary of Jacob Sher

BOCA RATON, FLORIDA SHER Jacob (Jack) Sher, age 91, of Boca Raton, Florida died Sunday evening January 11, 2009 at his residence. Jack was born in Albany, NY where he resided for many years before moving to Florida. Jack was the owner of the former Hudson Scrap Iron and Metal Co. in Albany . He was a member of Albany City Lodge # 540 Knights of Pythias in Albany, the Colonie Country Club, Albany Jewish Community Center, ABG of Albany and a former member of Temple Israel in Albany. He will be long remembered as a kind and generous man and for his many philanthropic efforts throughout the Albany Community. . He was married to Molly LeVine Sher until her passing in 2006. . Loving father of Richard (Michele) Sher of Swampscott, MA; Gail (Peter) Weinstein of Bridgeport, CT and Karen Bass of New York City. Cherished grandfather of Alexis Sher, Jordan Sher, Jamie Bass, Jeremy Bass, Andrea Weinstein and her husband Joseph Kresse and Brad Weinstein and his fiance Jordana Reisman. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue Albany on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 11:30am. Interment will follow in the Temple Israel Cemetery in Guilderland, NY Those wishing to remember Jack in a special way may make a memorial contribution to Hospice by the Sea, 1531 West Palmetto Park Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33486.
