Obituary of Albert Weiskopf

LATHAM, NY WEISKOPF Albert Weiskopf, age 78 of Latham, NY died on Friday evening January 9, 2009 at the Albany Medical Center. Mr. Weiskopf was born in Brooklyn, NY and was a Capital District resident for many years. He received his bachelor's degree from Brooklyn College and received his certification as a Physical Therapist from the University of Pennsylvania. He had been the Chief of Physical Therapy at the Albany Memorial Hospital for many years and retired in 1996. Albert was an Army Veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member and Past Quartermaster of Albany Jewish War Veterans Post # 105 in Albany as well as a member and current treasurer of the Colonie Jewish Community Association. He also belonged to the American Physical Therapy Association. Albert taught Yiddish at Congregation Beth Emeth in Albany as well as Congregation Beth Shalom in Clifton Park. He is survived by his wife, Arlene Shumsky Weiskopf and three children, Gary Weiskopf and his wife Lynn, Eric Weiskopf and his wife Debra and Sherry Kearns and her husband, Charles all of Clifton Park, NY. He also leaves 7 grandchildren, 2 nieces and 2 nephews. Services will be held in the chapel at the Independent Benevolent Cemetery on Fuller Road in Guilderland, NY on Monday January 12, 2009 at 1:00pm. Interment will follow in the Independent Benevolent Cemetery. The period of mourning will be observed at the Weiskopf residence in Latham on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
