I am so sorry to hear of Sy's passing. He and my dad were such good friends, lifelong friends. They shared so many Union College football Saturdays and they went to the track and to the OTB Teletheatre a number of times. Their friendship spanned over 50 years. When my father died, Sy was so wonderful to Susan and me. A true mensch. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Lori, Jim and girls... you have my deepest sympathies. Although I never knew him, I know he was a wonderful man. He and your mom did a fantastic job raising such a beautiful person Lori. My thoughts and prayers go to you all in this difficult time. May you find peace in knowing that he is your guardian angel now.

Sy was a wonderful guy. He was kind, intelligent, athletic, handsome, and especially loved his family (dogs included). I've known him since I was a little girl but have grown to appreciate him more and more as I got older. I have a million fond memories of Uncle Sy. We often walked dogs together. We would have long discussions about Union College, religion, you name it, along the way. It was really something I looked forward to and I think he did too. Uncle Sy was an interesting man. He could speak knowingly about a lot of topics and I learned much from him. Of course he was a bragging father, father-in-law, and then grandfather. Who could blame him for his constant praise of the wonderful family he has. I know the feelings were mutual and he knew it too. It is truly what makes life worth living. The loss of Judy and then Jeff took a terrible toll on him. His health was failing and knowing Uncle Sy, I think he would have wanted to pass the way he did. He had always been very careful to stay fit, eat correctly (gave up meat many years ago), and be well groomed. For him to go through life at the end being sick and completely reliant on others would have made him very unhappy and depressed. Instead he lived to see and enjoy Barry's babies and die in piece joining Judy, Jeff, and Aunt Evie. I will miss Uncle Sy very much and will always think of him with love and affection. Susie Sommer

My condolences to the family. Sy always was friendly and treated me with respect. He acted in a caring compassionate manner. We enjoyed doing yoga with him in the 70s. He was fun loving and open to new ideas. He will be missed. I was pleased to see Sy within the past year, I think at the JCC. A blessed memory.
