Obituary of Roberta Bobbie Kauffman
ROBERTA ( BOBBIE) KAUFFMAN
Roberta ( Bobbie) Kauffman, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on June 1, 2019 after complications from pneumonia. Bobbie was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 19, 1938 to Clara and Benedict Kahan. She went to Olney High School, Penn State University, and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from Temple University. She met Fred, the love of her life, while... on a date with someone else. He asked to take her home even though he too, was on a date with someone else. A whirlwind courtship led to a 60-year marriage and a full-life. She is survived by her husband, Fred, sons Bret (Madeline), Mark (Tracey) and Eric (Deborah, deceased), and grandchildren Andrew, Aaron, Max (Nathalia), Michelle, Brennan, and Joshua.
She had a light-hearted spirit, loved to dance and socialize, and possessed that rare quality of being able to laugh at herself. A lover of games, she enjoyed tennis, Mah-Jongg, and just about every board and card game. For over 20 years, she ran the Judaica shops at Temple Gates of Heaven in Schenectady, New York, and then at Temple Beth El Israel in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
She was a breast cancer survivor, who persevered to run in local marathons and play more tennis. Her family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, any donations in her memory be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Lung Association, or a charity of one’s own choosing.
A graveside service will be held at Beth El Memorial Park, 5451 Old Dixie Highway, Fort Pierce, on Wednesday, June 5, at 2:00pm.
