Stephen F. Scheiber, age 70, of Guilderland, NY died Monday evening, December 10, 2018, surrounded by family at Albany Medical Center. Mr. Scheiber was born October 23, 1948 in Mt. Vernon, NY, and grew up in the Bronx and in Monsey, graduating from Spring Valley High School in 1966. He earned a B.S. in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1970, completing a Master’s degree in the field in 1972. In college Steve was an active member of both the RPI players and the WRPI radio station. He later worked at Fairchild Industries, and as a DJ for WFLY radio in Troy, and stations in Ogdensburg, NY and Montpelier, VT.
In 1983 Mr. Scheiber left the corporate world and founded ConsuLogic Consulting Services, a one-man consulting firm at which he worked for the remainder of his life. Over the next 35 years he would attend and present at conferences ranging from California to China, Singapore and Germany. He served for many years as the editor of Test & Measurement World magazine, and published his first textbook, Building a Successful Board Test Strategy in 1995. He was an avid lover of music and baseball, and was a lifelong fan of the New York Mets since their early days at the Polo Grounds.
He is survived by his wife and partner of 47 years Mary Wilson Scheiber, by his sisters Ruth Blair (and Bill), Carol Gnacik (and Marty), children David Scheiber (and Patricia), Jacob Scheiber, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services will be held at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue, Albany, on Thursday, December 13 at noon. Interment will follow at Temple Israel Cemetery, Western Avenue, across from Crossgates Mall. The family will observe the period of mourning at the Scheiber Family home at 276 Longhouse Lane, Slingerlands.
