Many of his high school classmates just got the sad news yesterday- I remember Steve from high school and spoke with him extensively at both of our recent reunions- and exchanged many e-mails- we had many similar interests, especially music wise-
On behalf of myself and fellow classmates I wanted to let you know how saddened we were by Steve's passing- we were lucky to have had a chance to spend some time with him at the last reunion this past July;
gonna say a private prayer for Steve and his family

What a shocker to hear about Steve. We're HS classmates and it was sooooo wonderful seeing him twice in the last two years, first at our 50-year reunion in 2016 and again last July at our class's joint 70th BD party. Steve looked and sounded full of vim and vigor. I'm so sorry that that was stolen from him by the damn cancer. 70 is just too young to die. So unfair. I'm so so sorry. What a great guy.

We are so sorry to hear of Steve's passing. Mr. Scheiber was a fixture at our High Holiday services at Shabbos House for some years now. His knowledge of tradition, booming voice and zesty questions will remain with us even as we mourn his passing and will miss his presence. May his memory be a blessing.

Steve was a great friend on mine since 1978. We spent time together on numerous occasions when Steve traveled to the west coast. He will be missed. The picture is Steve and Jack Gibson while we were hiking on the Holy Jim Trail in Orange County.
Steve will be missed but never forgotten.

I remember Steve from WRPI. He’s was a few years older than me so we didn’t connect much socially. Steve did have a strong interest in music and was very focused on putting together a good radio show. Sorry we to hear we lost someone at such a young age. Condolences to his friends and family.

Steve took Carol and I to my first Broadway play at about age 15. When I asked what are we going to see? He said, “I’m not sure. We’ll go
To TKTS and see what’s available. I’m thinking a preview of Does A Tiger Wear A Necktie. It’s with some new actor named Al Pacino.” So it’s good? I ask in a tiny, please don’t think I’m a dumb teenager voice. “I don’t know,” Steve replies. “A preview means there are no reviews yet. We get to make up our own minds.” To be 15 and learn that I get to make up my own mind was perhaps the most important lesson of my life. And even an innocent teen knew that the new actor was very good indeed! So yes, I am so sad to hear of his passing.
