Obituary of Eli I. Taub

 

Mechanicville New York

Eli I. Taub, 80 of Halfmoon, NY died peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. Son of Belle and Max Taub, , he was born and raised in Brooklyn and graduated from NYU School of Law. He moved to Schenectady in 1964 and became a partner in Silverman, Silverman and Taub until he established his own sole practice.  He served as a Schenectady County Family Court Judge and Judicial Hearing Officer in 8 counties until 2013. He was a labor arbitrator, mediator and Attorney for the Child.  Eli devoted his life to serving the community in various capacities on over 25 Boards. Eli received several recognitions for his many contributions including the ACSC Humanitarian Award, Jewish Family Service Community Builders Award, B’nai B’rith Community Service Award and the 2014 Robert J. Ludwig Community Service Award. Eli was also the founder of the Kids Arts Festival. He acted in numerous local theater productions. Most important in his life was family and friendships.

 

He is survived by his wife, Nancy D.  Bell, a daughter, Jennifer Taub and her partner Andrew Conant and grandson Ezra Taub  of Boston, Massachusetts,  a sister, Eileen Klausner of Banning California,  He also leaves his Mother in law, Rita Bell of Delmar, NY, his sister-in law, Amy Cohen and her husband David of Albany, niece Julie Cohen and great niece Mya of Austin, Texas, as was as numerous cousins, particularly, Maddy Heinz (Nick Davy) and special friends particularly, Ellie  and Rich Alexander.

 

Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue Albany on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 1pm. Interment will follow in the Temple Israel Cemetery in Guilderland, NY. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Eli in a special way may make a memorial contribution to the Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York , Temple Israel of Albany or the Kids Arts Festival of Schenectady.

 

Mr. Taub’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation and thanks to nurses, Kris and Jessica of the 2nd floor ICU unit at Samaritan Hospital for the kindness and care shown to Eli and our family, as well as those who responded to him when he was stricken in Troy including the good Samaritan who administered CPR to Eli prior to paramedics arriving

The period of mourning will be observed at the residence, 7 Camden Court in Mechanicville, NY on Tuesday following the service of interment, Wednesday and Thursday from 1-4 pm and commencing again at 6pm, Friday until 4pm, Saturday evening following sundown and on Sunday commencing at 1pm.
