I'm so so sorry to learn today of your beloved husband's death, Nancy.
Yours is a love that cannot be extinguished by tragedy and death... it will warm you in the coldest moments of your grief, comfort you when you need it the most, bring you sanctuary and healing... just as surely as God's love surrounds you, the presence of the Shechinah watches over you, and God has such complete faith in you: "Rabah Emunatecha"... just as Eli did and still does.
I wish you Good Mourning and great comfort from friends and family.
Deepest sympathy and love to you now, Nancy.
- Marc

Eli was my predecessor family court judge. We ran against each other. After the election, I received the most touching card of congratulations from him. Eli noted that my sense of compassion would make me stand out as a judge.
I was so moved by Eli's gesture that I vowed when my time came to move on, I would write a similar letter to my successor, noting their attributes, and wishing them well. When Judge Blanchfield was elected to family court, I forwarded my letter, asking him to continue Eli's tradition.
When I was asked to recommend Eli as a Judicial Hearing Officer, I noted that besides his considerable ability, he had class and he cares. I stand by that.

Nancy and family,
I have known Eli for over 40 years, when he as a Board member of the Children's Home of Schenectady and later the Northeast Parent and Child Society when they hired me as the Executive Director. Eli has always been an advocate for children and families, he was not only my 'boss', he was my family attorney, mentor and friend. We had many challenging adventures together working on behalf of the community. Recently we had lunch where we talked about family, friends and of course the state of the world and nation.
May you and your family find comfort in knowing Eli was a good man that helped make our community a better place for all.
I for one will miss him.
