I knew Conan long ago from his days in the Ten Eyck building. In addition to being a mensch he was always a pleasure to talk with and spend a bit of time during my work days. I am saddened by his death.

Conan not only championed my debut novel, he made a point of attending one of my first author events. Finding a shelf-talker, he'd even think to send me a photo. Such a kind, thoughtful person - my gratitude for having known him a little and condolences to all. Rest in peace.

Conan was such a lovely guy, it was always a pleasure to see him at book conferences. Even though we hadn't worked directly together in years he always remembered me and had kind words to say. He will be missed.

I met Conan at a book event for my first published book. I was a bit older than most new novelists, and I was quite terrified at the prospect of speaking to an assembly of veteran authors and booksellers. Magically, Conan and a colleague appeared at my side to guide me through the day. The two of them not only gave me confidence for the event, they made me feel like part of the Hachette team. My deepest condolences to Conan's loved ones. Thank you for sharing this wonderful person with the rest of us.

So very sorry to hear the sad news. I have many fond and fun memories of sweet Conan. All those sales conferences....going back 20 years! And those magic tricks!! He'd make me crazy because he would't tell me how he did it. He'd just grin that grin of his and shake his head..No. And his camera... always taking pictures. I'll miss getting his holiday card with a beautiful photograph. I smile when I think of him and I hope somehow he knows that. He was a good man, a kind soul...his heart was always in the right place. He will be missed.

No words can express my sorrow. Conan will be deeply missed within the sales group at HBG. I always sat with Conan during sales conference and now that seat will be empty.

Conan will always be remembered warmly by us... a very welcome soul whose regular visits to our bookstores will be deeply missed. Love you Conan. We really must put together a collection of his cookie recipes, Conan's Cookies, Forever!

Conan's death is such very sad news. Truly he was one of the most wonderful people I ever worked with - and always counted on. Smart, kind, and just a great, great guy.

We are shocked and deeply saddened at news of Conan's death. He was a friend and colleague. As the rest of us gave into "corporate casual" he could always be counted upon the do trade shows in a suit. My affection for him was cemented more 20+ years ago at a Time-Warner sales meeting in Miami. At the end of the meeting, he invited me to join some of the Warner reps who had discovered that the neighboring spa could be broken into by crossing our hotel's golf course. They had contrived to roll a drinks cart from our hotel banquet to the hot tubs behind the spa and there we soaked until 2AM or so when security guards tossed us because of noise complaints. Six-plus survivors retired to our hotel and began calling local pizza parlors which would deliver. We watched pay-TV movies and wolfed down pizza until our flights home that morning. It remains one of my nicest sales conference memories and he was at the heart of it. He was a sweet, funny, gracious guy, qualities sadly in short supply. We hold him and his family in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Stuart and family, Marc and I were so saddened to hear of Conan's passing. I also lost a brother at too young an age, and it is hard to lose someone who has always been a wonderful part of your life. With sympathy, Judy and Marc Ehrlich

Conan was there at HGB when I was a green sales rep in Boston, and he was never without a kind word or that awesome smile. A good, good man. It's been 7 years since I have seen him, but what an impression he made. He will be missed greatly.

I worked with Conan at Hachette for ten years. When I started, he went out of his way to make me feel welcome, and I learned a lot about how to be a better rep by watching the kinds of things he did. His generous, cheerful spirit brightened any group he was in. His love of his family was also manifest as he proudly shared milestones and triumphs. He was a gifted photographer whose photos I will cherish as a reminder of him. I am a better person for having known Conan, and he lives on in the impact he had on the many lives he touched.

My sincere condolences to Conan's family which he always spoke of with love. I've known Conan for 20 some years and he was an amazing person. I was always entertained with his magic tricks, enjoyed his goodies he would make for sales conference, his love of books, and his laugh. He was a wonderful person all around. He will be missed, god bless.

I first met Conan in 1989 or so, when he ran his small bookstore in Troy. He talked about his love of books and magic. I was overjoyed when he became a fellow book rep. I loved his name. I once introduced Conan to the great science writer Stephan Jay Gould as "Conan, The Jewish Barbarian." Dr. Gould shook his hand and said "Thanks, we need all of the help we can get." He loved this business, its authors and his books. I am honored to have had him as a colleague. My love and thoughts to the family.

Conan was such a nice charming and knowledgeable guy. I bought all my books from him when he ran the book store in Albany. I always looked forward to picking out my boos, asking his advice and having lovely chats
