I knew Dean Hollander when I was an engineering student at The Cooper Union from 1979-1983. But I first met him in the spring of 1979 when I went with my parents to tour the school. We were checking in at the Dean's office, when all of a sudden my father exclaimed "Hollander!". Little did I know that my father Albert, who recieved his engineering degree after many years of night school at NYU in 1965, had known Dean Hollendar well. I'm just cleaning out papers of my parents, and came across letters from Dean Hollender thanking my dad for helping out with various events in 1963/64. I remember fondly his "Dean's Hour" classes where he tried to reassure and guide us nervous Cooper freshmen through the rigorous program. And I had reconnected with him in recent years on LinkedIn--happy to hear that he was enjoying retired life to its fullest. Sorry to hear of his passing, but a bit of him lives on in a lot of people he influenced over his long career.

Larry, while Dean of Engineering at New York University, also volunteered as official photographer for the NYU Glee Club at University Heights. As such, he went to training camp and on tour with us; and joined us for most all non-singing activities. Sometimes, he was even the instigator of a little mischief. He has been a constant in the Glee Club and the Choral Alumni since I graduated 50 (fifty!) years ago.
He was one of the good guys, and we will miss him.

We are so sorry to hear of Mr. Lawrence Hollander's passing. He has been one of our favorite for many years. We all have so much respect and admiration for Mr. Hollander. We loved to hear his many stories of his work and his travels. While we were building our new office on Colvin Avenue he would walk by to check on the progress. We knew we were in good hands with him keeping his watchful eyes on the project! Our deepest sympathies to his friends and family. Such an intelligent, kind, and good man who will surely be missed.
