I was very saddened to learn of Ian's passing from a mutual fiend, Lenny Bren. Ian, Lenny and I were fraternity brothers (ZBT) at the U of R from 1967-71. I hadn't seen him in many years but thought of him often. I particularly remember that when we were sophomores we shared a suite a mile or so off campus in the Graduate Living Center. What particularly sticks in my mind is the fact that Ian first brought in a stray dog to be the suite pet, but unfortunately he turned out to be sick and we had to give him up. We then somehow acquired "Donna the Iguana". However, Ian was very concerned for Donna's health over winter break and took her home on the train. It seemed like a good idea at the time but apparently she (I guess she was a "she") traveled between train cars, froze solid and somehow lost her tail in the transition although she survived the trip. We then learned that all iguanas actually don't regenerate. Ian was great fun at college and will be sorely missed.

Ian took me under his wing and taught me how to practice family law. From the decent gentle way he treated children to the decent gentle way he taught me the practice of law, he was always my teacher. I miss him.

My son and I offer our heartfelt sympathy to Ian's loved ones. On many occasions over the past 14 years Ian provided not just his legal services to my son in difficult familial times, but he also offered his genuine care and concern. My son, now a young man, always knew Ian would do the best for him, was there for him whenever he needed him ( nights and weekends included ), and even cared enough to follow him in his sports endeavors. Truly a great and caring man. The world could use more Ians and is sadder today with his passing.

I was surprised and greatly saddened to hear of Ian's passing. Growing up, I remember so many times seeing him and Lorraine at Temple Israel...at one point I thought they lived there. Ian will surely be missed. My deepest condolences to the entire family and friends.
