Obituary of Herman Kerman
Herman M. Kerman, known to all as "Hy" passed away on November 30th after a brief illness. He was born on November 17th 1918 and was predeceased by his wife Sylvia and three sisters Brina, Weinman, Eleanor Alexander and Elaine Kominsky. He was a loving father to Denise (Nathan) Naparstek, and Sharon (Bill) Snyder, and grandfather to Eli (Lindsey Flaxer-fiance) Naparstek, Rachel Naparstek, Joey Naparstek, Adam Rosenberg (Melody), and Beth Oxborough (Thom) and great-grandfather to five. He graduated from Temple University with a bachelor's degree and then enlisted in the army where he served his country in World War II as an air navigational instructor. Following the war, he opened Hy's Diner in Poughkeepsie, NY and later obtained his master's degree in education from NYU. For over 30 years he was a devoted teacher and administrator in the Poughkeepsie City School District. He loved studying and imparting his knowledge onto others. He was a member of the Poughkeepsie Masonic lodge and Elk's Club and was a very intelligent and gifted man of many skills, and loved by many.
Services will be held at Temple Beth El, Grand Ave in Poughkeepsie, NY at 2:00 pm on Sunday December 2, 2012 Shiva will be held at the home of Denise Naparstek in Niskayuna NY.
