Obituary of Selma Weiss

Selma (Sally) Weiss, age 96 of Albany died on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center in Albany. Selma was born in 1920 to Osher and Bertha Einstein. She resided most of her life in Albany. She was a graduate of Albany High School and Brooklyn Jewish Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1941 Sally had a long career at Albany Medical Center in the newborn nursery. After she retired, she became a school nurse for the Albany City School District. She was married to Jack Weiss until his passing and was predeceased by her son Bobby Weiss to whom she gave devoted love and care. Selma is survived by her sister, Francis Rosenfeld (Myron) and her niece, Betsy Samet (Norman). She was also predeceased by a niece, Pamela Levin (Stuart) and a brother, Alvin Litsky (Rita). Sally also leaves cousins, Gladys Weiner (Morris), Shirley Mennen,(Irving) and was predeceased by cousins, Sylvia Meiner (Morris) and the late Sylvia Olshein ( Jules). She also leaves many younger cousins who were like nieces and nephews to her. A special mention to cousin, Barbara Wachs who watched over her care. Services at the Temple Israel Cemetery, Western Avenue Guilderland, NY on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 2:00pm. Those wishing to remember Selma in a special way may make a memorial contribution to the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center Auxiliary, 180 Washington Avenue Extension, and Albany, NY 12203. \ The family would like to acknowledge the staff of the red unit at Daughters of Sarah for their excellent care and compassion.
