Obituary of Samuel Fallek
Samuel Fallek, born and raised in Albany, NY, passed from this life Monday, April 18, 2016. Samuel, born on July 4, 1927, was a caring and loving father, a devoted and compassionate husband, and a grandfather who loved his grandchildren with great enthusiasm and always enjoyed their company. Known as Poppy to them, his endearing approach to life leaves his family and friends with many significant memories from which to learn.
As a youth, while attending Milne High School, he was determined to serve in The US NAVY during WWII, and at the age of 17 began his service to the nation. He was then stationed in the Pacific Theatre aboard The USS CECIL as a Radar Technician, having been schooled in radio telecommunication and radar technology. After his service, he returned to pursue more academic excellence and graduated from RPI, with a degree in Engineering and academic honors.
Sam was a Mechanical Engineer with Mechanical Technology Inc. After retirement, he still continued to pursue mechanical design and engineering excellence with a variety of significant consulting projects.
Sam was an active volunteer and participated in many events associated with the community. For many years, he was a Patient Representative at St. Peters Hospital
His daughter Martha, married to Thomas Fashouer, have two children, Abigail and Zachary. Peter Foster, Sam’s son, has three children, Anna Rose, Dylan and Jackson.
Poppy, or Sam, always loved talking about his children, his grandchildren and his wife Patricia Koonz Fallek, with whom he was happily married for over 43 years. Patricia was a great source of love, joy and inspiration, survives Samuel, as do his children and grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brother Malcom Fallek, his wife Lillian, and their two children Susan and David. Sam also has many relatives remaining in the Midwest and Washington DC areas. He enjoyed many fond family reunions with all of them. Sam was a devoted son to his Father and Mother, Isadore and Florence Fallek.
