Obituary of Bernice Coplin Rubin

Bernice Coplin Rubin, age 89 of the Eddy Village Green Beverwyck in Slingerlands, died on Sunday evening, April 3, 2016 at the Eddy. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Anna Goldstein Coplin .Born in the Bronx, Bernice moved to Troy, NY as a young girl. She was a graduate of Troy High School, class of 1944 and Russell Sage class of 1948 where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in business. Bernice will be remembered by her family as a kind, considerate, loving Mother and Grandmother, quiet, considerate, gracious always welcoming family to her home. She never had a bad word to say about anyone; never upstaged anyone, love to entertain, to cook, bake and she had a sweetooth. Bernice also loved retail business, and learned from her Father. She also helped her sister who had been the owner of the former Knitcraft Shop in Troy. She also volunteered at Albany Memorial Hospital, and the North Colonie Elementary School where she taught kids reading. She was very much the matriarch of Sano- Rubin Construction where her husband and son built the company over the last 70 years. Always a smile and kind word, generous of spirit to a fault. Bernice was married to Donald S. Rubin until his passing. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn D. Rubin and a son David M. Rubin (Carole Ju) .Sister of Stanley Coplin (Felice) Grandmother of Anna K. Rubin of Boston and Sarah E. Rubin of Washington, DC. She was predeceased by her sister, Lila Faris Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be held at Congregation Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Road in Albany on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers those wishing to remember Bernice in a special way may make a memorial contribution to Congregation Beth Emeth or Sage Colleges, 65 First, Street, Troy, NY 12180. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff at Eddy Village Green Beverwyck, House 21 for their loving care to mom over the last 2 years.
