Please accept my deepest sympathy along with my students at Washington Irving. My students and I were shocked to hear of Kate's passing and she was truly loved and appreciated. Kate's smile and beautiful optimism will not be forgotten. She was a great teacher and lover of learning.

Kathy was a teaching assistant when I had my first teaching job at the Early Childhood Education Center. She was always gifted with children. I also have two of her paintings hanging in my house. Kathy and I have kept in touch all of these years- over 30 years. She will be terribly missed.

my sympathies to all of kate's family and friends. It had been my privilege to work with Kate at AHS; to share a laugh or story or discuss her art on lunch breaks and then later at Starbucks. Her presence will be missed but her spirit always felt.

We lived across the street from you on Benjamin Lane in the '60's, Jim & Tacy Tunny and kids. I was stunned to hear of Kathy's passing from my son Peter early this morning. I shed some tears for those long-ago happy times when we were just starting out with our families. I think she took some art lessons from my husband at one time. I saw her last June at the Greek Festival in Troy where she was selling her jewelry. We chatted about our past time together, and I picked out a beautiful piece to purchase. Kathy would not take my money and wanted me to have it as a gift from her because we had been good neighbors to you and your children. I was deeply touched by her kind gesture, and told her I would wear it at the 2015 festival so she could see it. Now I will wear it to the memorial service Monday in her honor, and willl always cherish it as a gift from a friend who once passed through my life.

I feel so privileged to have known Cate. Such a lovely and effervescent woman. I learned a lot from her. I am blessed to have received a piece of her artwork as a birthday gift only 2 short years ago. I'm grateful that I own a pair of lovely earrings that she created. What a fine woman. She will be deeply missed.
May the love of family and friends carry Cate's family during this difficult time. God Bless You All.

Dear Jim and Family,
Words fail me. Kathy Kathy Kathy. We all loved her so much. I'm in shock right now. I think I saw her like maybe two months ago? Is that possible? Kathy - no one, I mean no one, was sweeter, funnier, happier, nuttier (well, I'm nuttier, but you know what I mean). A truly gifted writer, actress, comedian, artist. They broke the mold when they made Kathy Cohen. My heart goes out to all of you but please realize that your grief is shared by countless others. She is for the ages.
Much love,
Steve Swartz and Family (my daughter Katerina had the pleasure of meeting Kathy and talking to her on numerous occasions - usually at the Stuyvesant Starbucks - I just called her and she, too, is devastated by this truly horrible news)

To Sue and the Cohen family,
I am so very sorry for your loss. Kathy was one of the most positive, generous and creative people I've ever known. The world is a better place for having had her a part of it, and anyone who knew her was very fortunate to have had the privilege.
