A former patient of Jeanne's when she just started in Albany, NY - I got the chance to see her in private practice (my wife did too) and at the VA Hospital. Just thinking of her this day and lighting a candle. Continuing to pray for her family and for her soul. Such a good, compassionate person! My prayers are with her. She always crosses my mind ... and enters my prayers.

My condolences to Jeanne's family. We met but a few times to assist her in finding a companion for her dog, Katy. She was such a lovely woman...she showed such caring and concern not only her own dog, but all the animals in rescue. May she rest in peace.

I am sad to hear about the loss of such a wonderful women from the earth. I knew Jeanne while she and her husband were working at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. I was a labor and delivery nurse; now I am a nurse midwife. I remember both of them so fondly. My heart and my prayers go out to Dr. Kanaan and their children. I was not aware that Jeanne was ill until I read the obituary yesterday. Thank you so much for sharing this sad but important news. I have often thought of both Jeanne and Camille in the years since I have seen them last. I appreciate the opportunity to grieve for her loss. Please accept my condolences and my prayers for her family.

So sorry to hear that Dr. Rabin had died. She was a great doctor with a sense of humor. I missed her when she left Springfield.

I first met Jeanne and David and Katy a couple of years ago at the dog park, with my dogs Henry and Sid. Despite how she might be feeling, Jeanne always had a smile on her face and was always pleasant. Camille, David, Grace and Katy were the sun, moon and stars to her. It was always nice comparing kid stores with Jeanne, since our kids were the same age. One of the brightest, most positive, dog loving, classiest lady I have ever met. My sincerest condolences to all of you. Rest in peace Jeanne. I will miss you.

Although I have not seen Dr. Rabin since she left Massachusetts in 2003, I have thought of her often and sang her praises to many people. Dr. Rabin took such very good care of me as her patient. She was the kindest most compassionate and intelligent doctor that I have ever had. In 1992 she performed my hysterectomy, which I had needed for a few years. The year before the surgery Dr. Rabin identified that I had very bad fibroid tumors in my uterus, The tumors were so large that she could not perform the surgery and I would need medication to shrink the tumors prior to the surgery. The medication that I would need to have injected into my stomach was $300.00 per month and I required injections for at least 5-6 months. Unfortunately my insurance would not pay for these injections and I could not afford to pay for them being a single Mom with 3 children. Dr. Rabin assured me that I would have my injections as well as my surgery and said with that big reassuring smile "Don't worry Mary", a few days later she called me to make an appointment for my first injection. This wonderful woman had asked her drug representative for 6 samples of the medication that I needed and put them aside for me. Starting in September of 1991 she started giving me my monthly injections that would put me into a false menopause and shrink the tumors, all free of charge. Routine ultra sounds showed the progression of the tumors and uterus shrinking and my surgery was scheduled for February 3, 1992. I was terrified and expressed to Dr. Rabin that my mother had passed away when I was 4yrs. old and she was 34, I was 34! Since I was about to turn 35 on February 14th of that years she said, "well than we are not going to do it when you are 34" and she changed the surgery date to February 24th ten days after my birthday. Dr. Rabin is the only doctor that I have ever trusted totally, I remember the last day that I saw her after she had announced that she would be leaving, I could not hold back the tears, I knew I would miss her dearly as would both of my daughters who also grew up to be her patience. I cannot express how badly I feel about our world losing such kind, caring just all around beautiful person. My heart is hurting for her husband and children as well as all of her family and patients that have lost a wonderful doctor. I will never forget her and will keep the kindness she showed to me in my heart forever.

I met Jeanne at the dog park 2 years ago. An ordinary encounter led to dinners filled with meaningful conversations. And in these conversations, her eyes most lit up when she told me all about how David and Grace were doing in school. How much fun she and Camille had in Barcelona and your other travels. My heart goes out to you during this most raw and wrenching time. May her love for you give you the consolation your hearts need right now.
