Obituary of Robert Aronson
ROBERT J. ARONSON
Robert J. Aronson, 78 of Ponce Inlet, FL (formerly of Glens Falls, NY) passed away suddenly on December 31, 2010.
Son of William and Clara Aronson, Bob served in the US Navy during the Korean War on the USS Salerno Bay and the USS Wright as a Petty Officer, 2nd Class Culinary Specialist. Proud of his service, Robert received several medals and honors including the United Nations Service Medal, and the Naval Occupation Service Medal (European Clasp.)
Adored by his family and friends, Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan; their daughter Ruth (Michael) Schulman and grandson, Zachary of Clifton Park; son Jack and grandchildren Jason and Lindsey of TX; sisters Miriam (Howard) Hirsch of NJ, Sunny (Paul) Buchman of Glens Falls, and Barbara (Barry) Ziff of MA; brother-in-law, William (Paula) Ginsburg of CO; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob was predeceased by his mother and father.
Bob retired from civil service for the NYS Division of Parole after 25 years, and moved to Ponce Inlet to enjoy his love for fishing and living on the ocean's shore. Throughout his life, Bob also enjoyed camping, golfing and bowling. He was a member of the Masons, Jewish War Veterans, the Glens Falls Operetta Club, Temple Beth El and Congregation Shaaray Tefila in Glens Falls, and was an adjunct instructor at ACC for hearing reporting. He was also an active member at the Port Orange (FL) "Y." Bob was a graduate of the Detroit Institute of Meat Cutting and Glens Falls High School.
Interment will be held at a later date at Saratoga National Cemetery. Shiva will be observed at the home of Ruth and Michael Schulman, 51 Grant Hill Ct. Clifton Park on Sunday and Monday evenings, with services beginning at 7pm.
