Obituary of Samuel Levy

Samuel Levy died October 6th, 2010 in Bradenton, FL. Mr. Levy was born in ST. Paul, MN. He lived in Schenectady, NY for 33 years before moving to FL with his wife in 1994. Mr. Levy received his BS degree with Distinction and his Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. He worked for the National Bureau of Standards, and then for General Electric. He was one of the early Finite Element Method pioneers. He lectured at many universities and institutions both within and outside of the United States. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ida Vivian Levy, his sisters, Jennie Gelfman, Gitell Levy, Esther Levy and his brothers, Max Levy, and Maurice Levy. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Irene Levy, his daughter Linda Birnby, his stepdaughter Lindy Pruett, his two grandchildren, his two great grandchildren and his niece and nephews. Services and burial took place in Sarasota, FL.
