Jacob Schreiber, loving husband of the late Isabel Schreiber, devoted father of Barbara Cooperman and Ruth Schreiber-Greene, passed away Thursday, July 1 at the age of 93. Born in a small Polish village in 1917, he was a Holocaust survivor and met his wife, Isabel, at one of the series of concentration camps he was at. They immigrated to the United States in 1950 where they moved to Albany and remained there the rest of their lives. Jacob worked as carpenter until his late 70s and continued doing odd jobs as a handyman after. He was an active life-long member of Temple Israel. In the early 90s, he went to Germany and testified at the trial of Josef Schwammberger, a Nazi war criminal. He is survived by his daughters Barbara Cooperman (Michael), Ruth Schrieber-Greene (Steve), his six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and friends. He was an inspiration and a joy to his family, who will miss him dearly. He will be remembered as a loving and generous family man with an incredibly strong work ethic.
