Obituary of Bella Halpern

Niskayuna, New York Bella Halpern, died on Friday night, June 25, 2010, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born in Cracow, Poland in 1926, and a survivor of the Nazi Holocaust, she emigrated to the United States in 1950. Her husband, Irwin Halpern, passed away in October, 1990. She worked in the jewelry business and in sales. She is survived by daughters Leslie and Michele, son-in-law, Anthony, and grandson, Jonathan, all of Niskayuna. The funeral service will take place at the Schwartz Brothers-Jeffer Memorial Chapel, in Forest Hills, NY, at 12:00 pm on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) or The Community Hospice of Schenectady, NY (www.communityhospice.org).
