Obituary of Gerald P. Garber

Delanson, New York GARBER Gerald Paul Garber died on Monday June 21, 2010 after a long period of decline. Born February 15, 1954 to William and the late Laura Coplon Garber, also his second mother, Estelle Garber. Gerald was a delightful addition to the family, in spite of his being born as a "Down" syndrome child. Gerald spent a large period of his life living in sheltered residences, under the auspice of Schenectady ARC, in all his residences he was treated as "special", a beloved, sometimes stubborn maverick, with a quick wit, ready smile and an ability to endear himself to friends and family. He leaves his sister, Elissa Hyman and brothers, Daniel and Raymond, as well as his favorite uncles, David and Leon plus a host of nieces , nephews and cousins. Services at Congregation Agudat Achim, 2117 Union Street Schenectady on Wednesday June 23, 2010 at 11:00am. Interment will follow in the Agudat Achim Cemetery on Schermerhorn Street in Rotterdam, NY. Donations in his memory may be made to Schenectady ARC, 395 Becker Drive Schenectady, NY 12306-5804. Congregation Agudat Achim or a charity of your choice.
