Obituary of Susan Holdridge PhD
Susan A. Holdridge, Ph.D., 63, of Loudonville, died suddenly on February 16, 2012 at Memorial Hospital. She was born in Silver Creek, NY to Benjamin and Anita Holdridge. She graduated from SUNY-Fredonia and received her doctorate in Psychology from SUNY-Albany. As a psychologist, she engaged in private practice and worked for a number of institutions, including St. Catherine's Center for Children and the State Office of Disability Determinations. In recent years, she focused on freelance writing, publishing numerous poems, articles, and stories, and winning a number of awards. A source of great joy to Susan was the involvement she and her son Ben shared in the Newsvine social network, through which they made friends from all over the country. Susan will always be remembered for her kindness, devotion to family and friends, keen intelligence, and graceful beauty. She was passionately committed to humane causes, and was involved in numerous ways for many years in helping animals, especially homeless ones. She is survived by her son, Benjamin Fruchter, her husband David Fruchter, her sister Mary Holdridge, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue Albany, NY on Monday, February 20, 2012 at 11:00am. Interment will follow in the Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands, NY. Those wishing to remember Susan in a special way may make a memorial contribution to the Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12204. The period of mourning will be observed at the family residence in Loudonville, NY. Friends are invited and welcome to visit at the residence on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2-5 and 7-9 pm.
