Obituary of Doris Poskanzer

Doris Esther Poskanzer, passed away on Sunday May 23, 2010 at Naples Community Hospital in Naples, Florida with her four sons by her side. Born on May 16, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois , Doris resided for most of her youth in the Boston area. She graduated from Brookline High School in Brookline, Massachusetts and resided most of her life in Albany, NY. For the past 15 years Doris has been spending her winters in Naples, Florida. She enjoyed times with her family and friends, traveling , the beach , backgammon, and knitting. She volunteered at St.Peter's Hospital in Albany and was a member of Temple Israel in Albany. Doris was married to Dr. Edward Harold Poskanzer until his passing. in 1997. Survived by her four sons, Alan and his wife Sheila and their 2 children Elissa & Ethan from Albany, NY, Michael and his wife Marie and his 2 children Sheri and Steven from Orlando, FL, Lee from Barrington, NH, and David and his partner Michael Sgambati from Westwood, MA, her brother Edwin Lawson & his wife Irene from Fredonia, NY and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Lawrence Stewart Poskanzer and her parents, Abraham and Anna Levin Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue Albany, NY on Thursday May 27, 2010 at 11:00am Interment will follow in the Temple Israel Cemetery in Guilderland, NY. The period of mourning will be observed at 40 South Manning Blvd. in Albany on Thursday following the service of interment until 5:00pm and on Friday from 4-7pm. Those wishing to remember Doris in a special way may make a memorial contribution to a charity of your choice.
