Obituary of Marilyn Betty Yorkshire
Marilyn (Cohen) Yorkshire, 80 of Boynton Beach, Florida died on Thursday April 8, 2010 at her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born to Rose and Harry Cohen on
February 25, 1930 in Gloversville, New York. She graduated from Gloversville High School and was salutatorian of her class. She received a full scholarship to Cornell University where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. She was an Executive Underwriter for Prudential Insurance when she left her career in 1955 to raise her three children. She worked part time as a special education teacher for the Schenectady School District. She was an avid bridge player, a member of the American Contract Bridge League, and was the winner of several bridge tournaments.
A resident of Niskayuna for 35 years, she retired in 1988 to Boynton Beach, Florida where she spent the last 22 years golfing , traveling, playing bridge , dining out, and most importantly, rescuing her beloved mutt dogs Fisher and Chelsea.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Dr. Stuart Yorkshire of Boynton Beach, Florida, her three children, Bruce Yorkshire of Lauderhill, Florida, Gary (Maria) Yorkshire of Scotia, NY, and Beth (Eric) Rappaport of Clifton Park, NY. She is also survived by her three precious grandchildren, Marissa, Joshua, and Sara.
Funeral services will be held at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue in Albany on Friday April 9, 2010 at 12 noon. Interment will follow in the Temple Israel Cemetery in Guilderland, NY.
