Jack (Abram/Avrum Jackel/Yankel) Cuttler, age 86 of Guilderland, NY and Tamarac, Florida died on January 14, 2010 after a long illness. Jack was the former Director of Income Tax and Sales Tax for the State of New York.
Born in Albany, NY on September 19, 1923, he was the son of the late Samuel Cuttler and Briendel Stark Cuttler. He was an excellent trumpet player from a young age. After graduating high school in Rensselaer, NY, he joined the US Army and served in the Pacific during World War II. He was employed by the State of New York, Department of Taxation and Finance in various positions in Albany, Syracuse and Binghamton culminating in his position at the Director of Income Tax and Sales Tax. In this position, he managed 2, 000 employees.
Jack enjoyed his family and going to the horse races, especially with his son, David. His favorite track was Saratoga. He had a great sense of humor and told a lot of jokes. He was a very involved grandfather to his five grandchildren taking them on trips and dancing at the many family simchas which he joyfully participated in. He was very excited about the birth of his first great-grandchild, Isabella, in New York City. During his last lucid day, he met Isabella for the first time in his hospital room. He was very touched that he lived long enough to meet her.
