Charles "Chuck" M. Jacobs, age 87 of Albany, NY died on Sunday January 10, 2010 in Albany. Chuck is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lillian Dunn Jacobs and his children, Bruce (Diana) Jacobs of Bloomington, Indiana, Barbara
(Andrew) Levine and Linda (Elliott) Glansberg, both of Saratoga Springs, NY. Grandfather of Craig and Alex Jacobs, Noah and Sophy Levine and Maxwell and Lila Glansberg. He was the son of the late Abraham and Florence Jacobs. Chuck was also predeceased by his brother, Lawrence Jacobs.
Chuck was a graduate of the Troy High School as well as Union College. He was a marine veteran and served during World War II and was the recipient of a purple heart after being wounded in Guadalcanal. Chuck had been employed by Graves and Rodger Liquor Distributors for more than 30 years. He had been inducted into the Troy High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Chuck was a member of Congregation Beth Emeth, the Independent Benevolent Society and Albany Jewish War Veterans Post # 105.
Services at Congregation Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Road in Albany on Wednesday January 13, 2010 at 2:00pm. Interment will follow in the Independent Benevolent Cemetery in Guilderland, NY. Those wishing to remember Chuck in a special way may make a memorial contribution to a charity of your choice.
