Obituary of Gates Willis Barnet
GATES W. BARNET
Gates W. Barnet, age 82, of Delmar, NY died on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, NY. Born in Albany, NY, Mr. Barnet was a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of the Milne School, Albany, NY. Gates was a photographer for the Albany Times Union (1949-1957) and had been the proprietor of the former Barnet's Toy Store in Latham Shopping Center and Northway Mall, Colonie, NY (1957-1974).
He is survived by a son David G. Barnet and his wife Julia Richards of Delmar, NY and a daughter Nancy Adams and her fiancée Robert Brown of Clifton Park, NY. He was the grandfather of James and Anna Barnet and Lena Adams. [Myrna Y. Becker former wife] Gates was predeceased by his beloved sister Marion Cummings and brother-in-law Robert M. Cummings of Montreal, Canada.
Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue in Albany on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 1:30pm. Interment will follow in the Beth Emeth Cemetery in Loudonville, NY
