Ethel Raufman Dorfman, age 95, of The Manor of Chestnut Hill in Philadelphia, PA, died on Wednesday morning, December 30, 2009. Ethel was born in Troy, NY, and resided there for many years. She later moved to Pembroke Pines, Florida, in 1969, and them moved to Philadelphia in 2003.
.Ethel was a member of the Beth Tephilah Synagogue in Troy and a former member of Temple Beth El in Troy. She was employed for many years by the NYS Dept. of Taxation and Finance. Ethel volunteered her time at Memorial West Hospital in Florida. She was the President of Talking Books at Century Village in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Ethel was a life member of Hadassah, a member of B'nai B'rith and Women's American ORT.
She was married to Herman Dorfman until his passing in 1997. She is survived by her loving daughters, Marsha ( Robert) Snyder of Baldwinsville, NY, Rosalyn Dorfman ( Dieter Bueckert) of Orlando, Florida and Sandra ( Robert) Thomas of Chestnut Hill ( Philadelphia, PA) . She was the cherished grandmother of Caitlyn Thomas Kennedy and her husband Terry and Lesley Snyder. She is also survived by a sister, Frieda Huppert of Schenectady, NY and Sudbury, Massachusetts. Ethel was predeceased by 2 brothers, Arthur and Seymour Raufman and a sister, Sylvia Maurer.
Services will be held at the Parker Brothers Memorial 2013 Broadway Watervliet, NY on Sunday January 10, 2010 at 11:00am.
11:00am. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 12th at 2:00pm at the Manor of Chestnut Hill, 495 East Abington Avenue Philadelphia, PA.
