Ida Rosenthal Chait, age 95 of Albany, NY died on Monday December 21, 2009 at her residence. Ida was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and was the youngest and last survivor of seven children, the daughter of the late Samuel and Rebecca Rosenthal.
She attended Albany State Teacher's College and graduated from secretarial college. She was a fashion model in NYC, but settled back in Albany, NY. She worked for NYS in various capacities, culminating in a professinal capacity as a well-loved supervisor in the NYS Department of Transportation
.
She was married to the love of her life, Samuel Chait, for 56 years. He held several high level postions in the Department of Taxation and Finance.
She was a longtime member of Temple Israel, Hadassah, Sisterhood, and the Jewish Community Center.
She will be missed and survived by her daughters, Elaine Chait of Albany, NY and Suzanne Chait-Magenheim of New York City and Florida, her son-in-law Lawrence C. Magenheim. and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was a beautiful person in so many ways.
Funeral services will be held at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Ave., Albany, NY on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at 11:30am. Interment will follow in the Temple Israel Cemetery in Guilderland, NY.
Donations in her memory may be made to the National Alzheimer's Association- for research.
