Obituary of Helen S. Abrams

HELEN S. ABRAMS 1914-2009 Helen S. Abrams, age 95 of the Kingsway Arms Nursing Home in Schenectady, NY died on Wednesday morning December 16, 2009 at the nursing home. Helen was a former resident of Garner Avenue in Schenectady. Born in Indiana Harbour, Indiana, she resided in Schenectady most of her life. She had been employed for many years by the New York State Dept. of Taxation and Finance retiring in 1982. Helen was a member of Congregation Gates of Heaven and also did volunteer work at Gates of Heaven for many years. She is survived by a son, Richard Marc Abrams and his wife Donna of Palm Bay, Florida, and daughters Marcia Kane and Sara Gannon of Schenectady, NY. Helen is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was predeceased in 2004 by her loving daughter, Lonnie H. Szwarcberg of Latham, NY and was also predeceased by a brother Isadore ( King) and sisters, Ida and Sarah. Services at Congregation Gates of Heaven, 852 Ashmore Avenue in Schenectady on Sunday December 20, 2009 at 1:00pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will follow services in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery on Watt Street in Schenectady. In lieu of flowers those wishing to remember Helen in a special way may make a memorial contribution to Congregation Gates of Heaven.
