Obituary of Betty Simon Lipsky

BETTY SIMON LIPSKY 1910-2009 Betty Simon Lipsky of West Orange, New Jersey formerly of Troy, NY died on Friday December 11, 2009 at the Daughters of Israel Nursing Home in West Orange, New Jersey shortly before her 100th birthday. Mrs. Lipsky was born in Troy where she resided for many years before relocating to New Jersey. She was a graduate of Troy High School and the Albany State Teachers College. She was a teacher at Troy High School. She later worked with her late husband, Alfred in the family business, the former Troy Covering Shop. She was a life long member of Temple Beth El in Troy and its sisterhood as well as a lifelong member of Hadassah. She was married to Alfred Lipsky until his passing in 1968. She is survived by 2 daughters, Susan E. Faris and her husband Charles of Madison, New Jersey and Rosalie Shea (Timothy "Buck" Moran) of Delmar, New York. Grandmother of Nina Barringer Isbitts of Clearwater, Florida. She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren, Alex, Miranda and Hope. Betty was predeceased by a son, Eugene Lipsky, 2 brothers, Morris and Bernard Simon as well as a sister, Rose Simon. Services at the Beth El Cemetery on Belle Avenue in Troy, NY on Monday December 14, 2009 at 1:00pm.
