Obituary of Robert Price
Robert A. Price
1934 - 2009
Robert A. Price, 75, of East Greenbush died on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 after several years of declining health. He was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, the son of the late Samuel and Anna Price. He received bachelor's and master's degrees in mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Between his degrees, he briefly worked at Penn under the developers of main-frame computers. This established his life-long love of computers.
Bob was a computer scientist and software development manager at General Electric in Syracuse for 31 years. After retirement he was a volunteer at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, Round Rock Medical Center in Texas and most recently at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. He had also been a clinic escort at Planned Parenthood in Syracuse.
He loved traveling and was most pleased by a prediction from a fortune cookie, "You will travel to many countries." And he did! He was the family photographer and took many pictures of the children and grandchildren as well as photos from all the travels.
Bob often said the three most important things in his life were family, family and family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Marian. He was a devoted father to his children, Susan Price of Troy, David Price (Diane) of Franklin, TN, and Judith Holston (Anthony) of Castleton. He was the proud grandfather of Nicholas, Stephanie, and David Price, and Sarah and Allison Holston. He is also survived by his brother, Justin J. Price (Lillian), of West Lafayette, IN and their daughters and granddaughters.
The family would like to thank Dr. James Horn and the entire staff of the Albany Regional Kidney Center for their kind care of Bob.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 3 at 2:00 PM at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Ave. in Albany. Friends are invited to the family home after the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Albany Regional Kidney Center, 2 Clara Barton Dr. in Albany or to Planned Parenthood.
