Obituary of Leona Simon

LEONA JEAN (TUCKER)SIMON SIMON Boca Raton, Florida Leona Jean (Tucker) Simon passed away on July 7, 2009 in Boca Raton, Florida where she had resided for many years. She was born on December 15, 1927, the daughter of the late Ruth and Myron Tucker. Leona graduated from Albany High School, attended Ithaca College and then worked for the New York Telephone Company prior to her marriage to Harold R. Simon on August 6, 1949. They shared 36 wonderful years of marriage until his passing on December 16, 1985. Leona loved everyone she met, was renowned for her cooking skills, especially her various soups and she was a great shopper! She is survived by her beloved children Bobbi Kanner of Marietta, GA, Barry Simon (Nancy) of Albany, NY and Susan Bronstein of Boca Raton, FL. She was the grandmother of Michael Kanner (Cindy Buell) of Smyrna, GA, Lauren Kanner of Marietta, GA, Marcus Simon (Myriam Baddaoui) of Northampton, MA, Matt Simon (Erica Green) of Ellicott City, MD , Josh and Jared Bronstein of Boca Raton, FL. She was the loving sister of Marilyn Milstein (Herbert) of Boca Raton, FL and the late Shirley (Gus) Heublum. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins to whom she was quite close. Leona will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched. Services will be held graveside at Hebrew Tailors Cemetery on Western Ave. in Guilderland on Friday, July 10, 2009 at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations in Leona's memory may be made to The M.S. Society at 421 New Karner Road Albany, NY 12205 or to a charity of choice.
