Obituary of Harold Schenkel
HAROLD SCHENKEL
Harold Schenkel, age 94, of Albany, NY died on Monday morning January 16, 2012 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY. Born in New York City Mr. Schenkel was an Albany resident most of his life. He had been employed from 1954-1980 ars as a toll collector for the New York State Thruway After his retirement he went back to work part time in the same capacity. He was an Army veteran and served during World War II and was a member of the Independent Benevolent Society in Albany.
Harold is survived by his wife, Leah Strong Schenkel, a son Michael Schenkel and his wife Debbie of Bethlehem NY and a daughter Sheila Mears and her husband George of Guilderland, NY Grandfather of P.J. Mears and his wife Andi, Jeff Mears and his wife Joyelle, Rachael and Robert Schenkel. He also leaves two great grandchildren Aaron and Grace Mears.
Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue, Albany, NY on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in the Independent Benevolent Cemetery, Guilderland, NY. The period of mourning will be observed at the home of Michael and Debbie Schenkel, 23 Frances Lane, Guilderland, NY on Wednesday and Thursday.
