Obituary of Marilyn Leah Etkin

Glenville, New York ETKIN Marilyn Leah Etkin, 75, died Wednesday April 29, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. She died with her children at her bedside. Born in Schenectady, she was the youngest of five children and daughter of the late Anna and Jacob Goodman. A graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and the State University of Albany she went on to teach at Schalmont High School. In her first year of teaching her students broke the record for the highest number to pass the regents exam. She also taught typing at Linton High School. Marilyn successfully owned and operated an employment agency. She was a member of many civic and social organizations. Marilyn is survived by her three children, Steven ( Audrey) of Clifton Park, Mark ( Marisa) of Schenectady and Robin ( her fiancé Frank) of Niskayuna and six grandchildren, Alexa and Fallon Etkin, David and Mia Etkin and Jason and Eric Moskowitz; she is also survived by her sister, Ruth Solomon, and brothers, Irving and David Goodman. Marilyn was predeceased by her brother, Sol Goodman. She was at one time married to Davis M. Etkin. The family would like to express their gratitude to Glendale Nursing Home and Hospice for the loving care she received there. Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue Albany on Monday May 4, 2009 at 1:00pm. . Interment will follow in Memory's Garden in Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Glendale Nursing Home. The period of mourning will be observed on Monday May 4th at the residence of Robin and Frank, 900 Westholm Road in Niskayuna following the service of interment.
