Obituary of Beatrice Chuckrow Wells

BEATRICE WELLS MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA Beatrice Chuckrow Wells of Miami Beach, Florida died on Monday, April 13, 2009 at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. She was born in Ithaca, NY and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie Lewis Coleman. She received her BS degree from Cornell University and her MA degree from Teachers College, Columbia University. After earning her master's degree, she taught at the Ethical Culture Fieldston School in New York City. Later, she had been employed as a teacher in the Troy Public School system and was retired. She was a member of the Beth Tephilah Synagogue in Troy, as well as Hadassah and the Women's Cancer League. She was also a member of the Cornell Alumni Association and the Sigma Delta Tau Sorority, which she joined while attending Cornell. In Florida, she served as a volunteer at the Miami Heart Institute. Beatrice was married to David Chuckrow and later married to Joseph Wells until their respective deaths. She was predeceased by her daughters Judith Chuckrow Goetzl and Joyce Chuckrow Nadel. Beatrice was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother dedicated to her family. She is survived by her son-in-law Dr. Ugo Goetzl of Durham, NC; her grandchildren Aron (married to Laura Krevsky), Manlio (m. Michelle) and David Goetzl, and Jennifer Wilson (m. Joe); and great grandchildren Judith Eve Goetzl and Benjamin and Kayla Wilson. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn Rashkin of Florida and Sylvia Elkins of New York, and a brother Leonard Coleman of North Carolina. Services will be held at the Beth Tephilah Cemetery, Belle Avenue, Troy, NY on Friday, April 17, 2009 at 11:00 AM.
