Obituary of Celia Sahr

Celia Haber Sahr, age 93 of Parkside Ave in Schenectady died on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the Ellis Hospital. Mrs. Sahr was born in Cohoes, New York on September 5, 1915 and was the daughter of the late Solomon and Sarah Haber. She was educated and graduated from Troy High School and was a 1937 graduate of the Russell Sage College. She was a member of Congregation Beth Israel and its Sisterhood, a life member of Hadassah and the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Mt. Pleasant Home Bureau. Celia enjoyed arts and crafts, needle work, and painting. She will be remembered by her family for her kindness and generosity. Celia was the beloved wife of the late Abe Sahr, who died in 2006. Loving mother of Leonard H. Sahr of Richmond, Virginia and Lewis Sahr and his wife Felise of Millwood, New York and devoted grandmother of Evan Matthew Sahr. Also surviving is her sister Judy Family of Schenectady and several beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Ann Lutzer and two brothers Max and Leo Haber Services at Congregation Beth Israel, 2195 Eastern Parkway, Schenectady on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 12:00pm. Interment will follow in the Beth Israel Cemetery in Rotterdam, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Beth Israel. The period of mourning will be observed at the Sahr residence, 829 Parkside Ave., Schenectady on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
