Obituary of Marie Glorya Gettleman

Troy Gettleman Marie Glorya Gettleman , 85 of Troy passed away peacefully at the Evergreen Commons Nursing Home on February 25, 2009. Born in London, England she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mildred VanGrosse. She married Irving Gettleman in 1944 in London and moved to the United States in 1946. Gloria was a graduate of Pitman College and loved to dance, cruise, travel, record and read hundreds of books. She and her husband traveled to most parts of Europe, Asia, Mexico, Canada and the United States. She was employed for 20 years as a secretary by the Watervliet Arsenal and won Navy awards for her typing and secretarial skills typing at a speed of over 110 words per minute. She is survived by her loving husband Irving, her sons David and Paul, grandsons Eric and Matthew and great grandson Noah. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Sunday March 1, 2009 at 12:00 noon in the Berith Sholom Cemetery, Belle Avenue, Troy, New York. (within Elmwood Cemetery).
