Martha S. Vellano, of Boca Raton, Florida and Slingerlands, NY died on January 19, 2009 at her Beverwyck Home with her loving family by her side. Martha was born in 1916 in Mexico, NY. Marty was the daughter of the late Rose Gaiz and Hyman Rosen.
She was a BA and MA graduate of Syracuse University in the School of Social Work. Marty was a member of Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority and Psi Chi Honorary Society. She was the first proud director of the Albany JCC nursery school, as well as a member of Congregation Beth Emeth. One of her most prized missions in life was to generously offer her support and guidance to all in need.
She was married to Arnold Sanders until his death in 1972, and later married John A. Vellano who died in 2001.
Marty is survived by 2 loving daughters, Dr. Carol Porter Faber ( Alexander Faber) of Montclair, New Jersey and Gail Pipito ( Dr. Salvatore Pipito) of Niskayuna, NY. She leaves her 2 brothers, Harvey Rosen of Boca Raton, Florida and Phillip Rosen of Mississippi, a loving step-son, John Vellano Jr. of Colonie, NY and a daughter in spirit, Blanche Vellano of Albany, NY. Cherished "Nana" of Laura Pipito, Alexandra S. Faber and Christopher Pipito. She also has many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 3 sisters: Alice, Sara and Ida.

She leaves behind many special Beverwyck friends who helped her to enjoy life.
