Obituary of Harry Sahr

Harry Sahr, age 89 of Cornelius Avenue in Niskayuna passed away peacefully on Sunday morning January 11, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Sahr was a lifelong Schenectady resident and had been a partner in the family business, Sahr Poultry on Curry Road in Rotterdam. Harry was a member of Congregation Beth Israel in Schenectady. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Selma Finkelstein Sahr and a daughter, Julie Woodland of Belmont, Massachusetts. He was predeceased in 1987 by his daughter Linda Sahr Weingarten. Grandfather of Allison and Sarah Weingarten and Jonathan and Gregory Woodland. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Harry was also predeceased by his brothers, Sid and Abe Sahr as well as his sister, Ida Sussman. Services at Congregation Beth Israel 2195 Eastern Parkway Schenectady, NY on Tuesday January 13, 2009 at 11:00am. Interment will follow in the Beth Israel Cemetery in Rotterdam, NY. Those wishing to remember Harry in a special way may make a memorial contribution to either Congregation Beth Israel or Hospice of Schenectady 1411 Union Street Schenectady, NY 12308 . The period of mourning will be observed at the Sahr residence, 1060 Cornelius Avenue, Niskayuna, NY on Tuesday through Sunday. Mr. Sahr's family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to, Linda Jackson, his caregiver of 3 years for the wonderful care and dedication given to Harry and our family.
