I didn't know him well, but I have very fond memories of Dr. Colman. He was a true individual, someone whose outlook on life can't help but make a lasting impact on you. I always really admired him. I'll always remember him taking me on a ride in his little old car around Euclid. His enthusiasm for life was obvious and contagious. A lot can be learned from someone like him. I was very sad to hear of his passing and wish his family all the best. Dave shared many stories about his father with me and I always enjoyed hearing all of them.

With love,
Mitch

We met Dr. Colman during an office visit several years ago. While we were speaking I (Gregory)noticed a large picture of "The Perfume River" on the wall.I,realized at that moment we had a past in commom that only those that had served in Vietnam could understand. The man was pure in heart and hand.Dr. Colman is in a wonderful place higher then a physical being could comprehend.
Sincerely,Gregory/Drinda and Ashley Arnone

The community has just had a tremendous loss. Jerry was just a tremendous individual, a caring, warm, and superb doctor. He has treated, at various times, my father, myself and my daughter. He was so warm and caring. My heart goes out to all of you for your loss.

Dear Ruthie and the whole family,

Sincerest condolences.

When we first heard about Jerry's illness, we were so saddened. It just did not seem fair for such an amazing and kind individual to have to suffer in any way. Despite his difficulties, Jerry fought his illness with grace, courage, and his classic smile. Jerry was a strong presence in our lives and in the lives of so many and we feel honored to call him our friend. Jerry, a man of true character and integrity, was a man of many talents. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for his ever comforting smile, compassion, friendship, and medical assistance at any time for our own family or running to the emergency room for a friend of ours he did not even know.

Jerry was just that rare, unique, and special person - unassuming, compassionate, ready to assist at any time for someone in need, humble, kind, and fun - not to mention a stellar physician! Jerry was such a devoted husband, loyal and proud dad, a dedicated family man to his entire family, and an inspiration to all who knew him.

Although Jerry's passing is a real void to all who knew him, we know that fond memories will keep him alive in all our hearts forever as we remember his joy for life.

Jerry was a gentleman in the true sense of the word - a true class act. We will miss his presence.

Fran, Ira, Dorothy, Russ, and Mitch Weiss

Dr.Colman performed many surgeries throughout my life to repair my cleft lip. He did an amazing job, and I am grateful to have found such a talented and passionate surgeon. I remember being in the hospital when I was a small child, and his humor would always calm my nerves and make me smile. My heart goes out to his family.

Dear "Ruthie" and family,
With a saddened heart, I send my condolences to all of you.
When I first met Gerry, I was 7mos.pregnant with my son.He told me that "pregnant women glowed, and were irresistible". That began a long time of mutual respect and friendship.
Gerrys' humor, kindness, caring, and dedication to his patients were truly admirable. But above all else, you were his greatest loves. His pride and affection was always a part of any conversation we had.
MY heart will hold his memory forever.
May all of you be comforted, find peace, and carry on Gerry's zest for life.
With affection and sympathy, Cookie

Ruthie and Family ~

Mike and I can only say how heavy are hearts are upon learning of Gerry's passing. The Earth has lost a very special man who touched every life with caring kindness.
It's tough to put into words what an amazing man he was. Being in his presence was always a source of comfort, caring, humor and unconditional kindness.
For the year I was employed with him and the continuing friendship with him and you.....I am honored.
I relish how he viewed life with such simplicity and found his dream being with you, children, pets and being able to help so many cleft palate children.
I believe he loved working for Operation Smile more than working for income. We have a cherished photo of Gerry and a Russian girl who is awaiting knowing whether she will receive surgery. The adoration in his eyes sums up his personality.
Wishing you and your family special memories during this sad time.
Fondly, Liz Ammian/Mike McGuire

My heart goes out to the family of Dr.Jerry Colman, and my prayers as well. The world has lost a great man, doctor, and humanitarian, and I a good friend. I really loved Dr.Colman for the work that he did, but more so for the way that he did it. Whenever he spoke to me of his family, he always had a great pride in their accomplishments, and I know that he loved you all deeply. I will miss him and would not be where I am today if not for his skill and compassion, both as an excellent physician and Human being.
Again, my deepest sympathy to all who knew and loved him.

Dear Mrs. Colman and family, Please accept my deepest condolance in your time of great loss. I have known Dr. Colman many years when I was in the OR @ St. Peter's Hospital. He was a wonderful surgeon and a caring and compassionate person. We used to love to hear his stories from his missionary work around the world. The story I recall is the delivery of a baby on the plane on his flight home and he used the string from a tea bag to tie the cord. Dr. Gerry was such a good person with great integerity. We all loved him. May God Bless and console you.
Sister Mavis Jewell

After years of surgery with the Macomber Group, I met Dr. Coleman in the ER after having fallen and needing stitches. As a teenager, I felt I had finally found a Doctor who was kind and that I could trust. I saw Dr. Colman all the way through my college years. When I moved back to the area 2 years ago, I was disappointed that he had retired. He would intermittently see my family in Albany throughout the years and always remembered to ask after me and my sister. I will never forget the kindness he showed to me as a very scared kid who had been in the hospital a few too many times. I was saddened to read of his passing and send out my condolences to his family. He was a great doctor, but an even better human being.
